Liminal, a leading self-custody solution provider, embarked on a transformative journey to enhance its existing system by adding chain support for various prominent blockchain networks. The objective was to integrate multi-signature wallets using hardware solutions like Ledger and AWS, alongside single signature mobile wallets using MPC (Secure Multi-Party Computation) for chains like Ripple, TRON, Polkadot, and Cosmos.

Project Scope:

Liminal aimed to expand its self-custody platform to support four diverse blockchain networks—Ripple, TRON, Polkadot, and Cosmos. The project included the integration of multi-signature wallets with hardware support, AWS integration, and the addition of single-signature mobile wallets using MPC.

I. Ripple Integration:

Requirements:

• Multisignature wallets with Ledger hardware support and AWS integration.
• Single signature mobile wallets using MPC with a Half signing method for Ripple chain.

Challenges Faced:

• Hardware Wallet UI Support: The team encountered challenges in integrating Ledger hardware support seamlessly into the user interface, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
• Transaction-Based Signing: Implementing transaction-based signing in the backend posed challenges, requiring meticulous attention to security and functionality.

II. TRON Integration:

Requirements:

• Extending multisignature wallets to support TRON with Ledger hardware and AWS integration.
• Single signature mobile wallets using MPC with a Half signing method specific to TRON.

Challenges Faced:

III. Polkadot Integration:
